The “Thermo Extra” is a traditional folding attic ladder which folds in three parts. This differs from the “Thermo” because the trapdoor is twice the thickness, giving you twice the amount of insulation.

The trapdoor of the Thermo Extra folding attic ladder is constructed using the same sandwich method as our standard model, but with this “Extra” model the door is 46 millimetres thick, meaning you get twice the insulation for even less heat loss. The same d-handrail is also fixed to the top third of the ladder section, and there are also protective rubber feet on the bottom of the wooden ladder. The trapdoor is spring loaded, meaning you do not have to take any weight while pulling it down and it makes it easier to close up as the springs take most of the weight.

The timber used in the making of this attic stairs is FSC environmentally rated, this means it has only been supplied by responsible sources. This ladders trapdoor minimises heat loss, which in turn can reduce consumption, making it even more kind to the environment.

The “Thermo Extra” folding attic ladder is an excellent choice for people trying to achieve a high building energy rating (B.E.R.) on their home. If you are attempting to build an “Airtight” home, you can be confident in the fact that this attic stairs is you best option as we take care to seal all around the opening by using chalk sealant around the architrave and on request we can also use airtight tape under the architrave. This ladder has a certified class 4 airtight hatch. The latest model now has a second airtight seal added.

Are you tired of dragging a step or extension ladder into your house, scraping the paint off your walls, only to unsafely climb your way up into your attic? Then we have a solution, our Thermo folding attic stairs is the traditional retractable, three part, timber folding attic ladder which is constructed from red deal pine. It is safe, strong, sturdy and built to last!

The trapdoor is 26 millimetres thick and is fully insulated and draft sealed for minimal heat loss and no draft. The trapdoor is constructed using a “sandwich” method, where polystyrene insulation is filled in or “sandwiched” between two outer layers. Red deal pine provides the structural frame of the door, there is a rebated slot taken out of the edge of the pine frame where a rubber seal sits to provide the airtightness and draft prevention. The ladder is assembled using dovetail joints. A metal d-handrail is attached to the top third of the ladder section, providing something to hold onto while climbing up and down the ladder. There are protective rubber feet on the bottom of the ladder, providing protection to floor surfaces which are vulnerable to scratches i.e. wooden floors. The hatch door is spring loaded, meaning you do not have to take any weight while opening it and it does not just simply fall down when you open the latch, with the supplied pole.

All of the timber used in the construction of this folding attic stairs is FSC environmentally rated, meaning that the wood has only been taken from responsible sources. We want to be kind to the environment, and we know you do too!

The “Supplied & Fitted” price which is provided below, includes the altering of your opening by our carpenters, to suit the nearest size available (The sizes are listed below). Or indeed creating a new opening in a different area of the roof, if this is required. These works will only be carried out to the highest possible standard, from both structural and from an aesthetics point of view.
